HONOLULU (AFP) – Isang alert warning ng paparating na ballistic missile sa Hawaii ang nagkamaling naipadala nitong Sabado, na nagdulot ng panic at kalituhan sa buong estado bago pa man ito nabawi ng mga opisyal at sinabing ito ay "false alarm."

Natukoy ng emergency management officials na ipinadala ang babala dakong 8:00 ng umaga sa pagpapalit ng shift change at drill matapos ‘’the wrong button was pushed’’ – isang pagkakamali na ikinataranta ng buong kapuluan at hinimok ang mga tao na ‘’seek immediate shelter.’’

Nangyari ang maling mensahe matapos ang ilang buwan ng mainit na tensiyon sa pagitan ng North Korea at United States dahil sa mga bantang nakalikha ang Pyongyang ng ballistic missiles na nalalagyan ng atomic warheads at kayang tamaan United States, kabilang ang Hawaii.

‘’I deeply apologize for the trouble and heartbreak that we caused today,’’ sabi ni Vern Miyagi, administrator ng Emergency Management Agency ng Hawaii.
