PAGKARAAN ng halos pitong taon ng pagkawala sa PBA, nagbabalik si Ricky Vargas bilang bagong chairman ng liga para sa Season 43.
Nahalal si Vargas bilang chairman sa isang special board meeting noong Linggo sa Araneta Coliseum.
“I was gone for seven years, but now I’m back,” ani Vargas.
Akari Sports wala pang balak pasukin ang PBA
Ang pagkakaluklok ni Vargas sa chairmanship ay sumasagisag sa bagong simula para sa liga.
”We’re back together, stronger than ever,” aniya.
Isiniwalat ni Vargas ang pagkakaroon ng kasunduan ng 12 board of governors para magtulung-tulong para sa mas lalo pang ikapagtatagumpay ng liga matapos ang gusot na bumalot dito sa nakalipas na dalawang buwan.
“I’d like to thank some people who made us stronger than ever and never gave up during the crisis the PBA underwent a couple of months ago. One is (Ginebra governor) Alfrancis Chua who was always there and looking for solutions, (Kia governor) Bobby Rosales who also never gave up, (Meralco governor) Al Panlilio who was beside me as we worked towards a resolution, and (former TNT governor) Pato Gregorio who unlocked this using his magic to reach an agreement between both parties,” ani Vargas.
Si NLEX governor Ramoncito Fernandez ang dapat na mauupo bilang bagong chairman dahil sya ang nagsilbing vice chairman noong nakaraang season.
Ayon kay Vargas nagpalit ng kanilang terms ang NLEX at TNT kung kaya siya ang naging chairman.
“NLEX so graciously gave way. There was a swap between NLEX and TNT, where NLEX graciously gave the opportunity to be the chair for this year in exchange for TNT getting the slot (in our term),” paliwanag nito.
Nahalal namang vice chairman ni Vargas si Alaska governor Dickie Bachmann habang si Phoenix governor Raymond Zorrilla ang bagong treasurer. - Marivic Awitan
