CABUGAO, ILOCOS SUR --- Sa kabila ng patuloy na iship ng Hanging Amihan na nagpapalamig sa kapaligiran ng Western Philippine Sea, dumagsa ang mga local at foreign surfer sa lalawigan para sumabak sa Cabugao Surfing Crown simula ngayon.

Ayon kay Ilocos Sur 1st District Rep. Deogracias Savillano, ang tatlong araw na torneo ay suportado ng provincial and municipal government sa pakikipagtulungan ng Department of Tourism at barangays ng Sab-ang at Pugos, ang surfing areas.

Nakataya ang tropeo at cash prizes sa torneo na naglalayong ipakilala ang lalawigan bilang alternatibong surfing destination sa bansa bukod sa Siargao, Baler, Aurora at La Union.

“The boardwalk of Sab-ang will definitely be the surfing competition site, while Pugos beach as surfing instruction venue,” pahayag ni Sevillano.

May kabuuang P175,000 cash prizes ang nakataya sa kompetisyon.

Nakalaan ang P40,000 premyo sa Men’s Shortboard National Champion, habang ang 1st Runner-Up ay may P20,000.00, 2nd Runner-Up P10,000.00, at 3rd Runner-Up P5,000.00.

Para sa Wahine Longboard National, ang kampeon ay may P20,000.00, 1st Runner-Up 15,000.00, 2nd Runner-Up 10,000.00, at 3rd RU 5,000.00.

Pinangasiwaan ni DOT Region 1 Dir. Martin Valera ang pagpapasinaya sa naturang event sa Vigan kamakailan.

“We look forward to the upcoming event as it will make Sabang known to local surfers. We have been a regular destination for foreign surfers like Australians, Americans and Koreans. That ply the Pagudpud, (Ilocos Norte), here (Sabang) and San Juan (La Union) surfing route,” pahayag ni Valero. - PNA
