Bilang bahagi ng early grade reading assistance ng United States Agency for International Development (USAID), nag-donate ang Amerika ng 1.1 milyong library book sa Department of Education (DepEd).

Pinangunahan ni U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Michael Klecheski ang seremonya ng pagkakaloob ng mga libro sa DepEd nitong Disyembre 11, ayon sa U.S. Embassy sa Maynila.

“The U.S. government continues to support the Department of Education (DepEd) in our mutual goal of improving the quality of education in the Philippines, so that boys and girls can go to school and learn skills that are foundational to their development,” ani Klecheski.

Karamihan sa mga libro ay isinulat ng mga Pilipinong author at artist upang mabigyan ang mahigit 8,100 silid-aklatan ng tinutulungang paaralan ng USAID sa Regions 1 (Ilocos Region) at 7 (Central Visayas).
