Ilulunsad ng Philippine National Police (PNP) ngayong araw (Lunes) ang mobile application na magbibigay-kaalaman sa users tungkol sa mga karapatang pantao, matapos alisin ng Apple ang isang war on drugs-inspired game application dahil sa isyu ng karahasan.

Sinabi ni Chief Supt. Dennis Siervo, pinuno ng PNP-Human Rights Affairs Office (HRAO), na target ng “Know Your Rights” application ang mahigit 160,000 pulis sa bansa, partikular ang mga sumasabak sa operasyon.

Tampok sa mobile application ang features tungkol sa Miranda Doctrine at anti-torture law.

“Through the ‘Know Your Rights’ mobile application, all Human Rights Advisories and Policies crafted by the PNP, including the contents of the New Miranda Warning Pocket Card with Anti-Torture Reminders, can be downloaded and stored in all android smart phones,” ani Siervo.

Ipinaliwanag niya na sa oras na mainstala ang mobile application sa device, mabubuksan ng pulis ang app anumang oras kahit walang Internet connection.

“It equips PNP personnel with the right information and or materials with which to advise citizens or persons placed under police custody of their rights under the law,” ani Siervo.

Kamakailan ay inalis ng Apple sa listahan nito ang mobile app na inspired ng war on drugs at may bida na inihulma kay PNP chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa dahil sa pagiging bayolente.

Kasabay ng paglulunsad ng mobile app ang pagdiriwang ng National Human Rights Consciousness Week na may temang ‘Stand Up for Someone’s Right Today’.

Maaaring mai-download ang app sa Google Play sa Android mobile users.

“The community can also install/download the mobile application in their smart phones, for easy access to the said human rights advisories and policies which provide them information on their fundamental rights as citizens and basic information on police operational procedures and rules of engagement,” ani Siervo.

“The ‘Know Your Rights Mobile Application’ is more than just a technology driven mechanism. It is our public affirmation of the PNP’s duty to respect, protect, and fulfill human rights,” dagdag niya.
