IPINAALAM ng South Korea Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) ang pagbibigay ng visa-free sa mga turista mula sa Pilipinas, Indonesia at Vietnam na magtutungo sa Jeju Island, gayundin sa Seoul, Busan at iba pang lugar sa bansa bilang bahagi ng promosyon sa gaganaping Pyeongchang Winter Olympics sa Pebrero at Paralympic Winter Games sa Marso.
“We will allow and provide a chance for group tourists bound for Jeju Island from the Philippines, Vietnam and Indonesia to visit the Metropolitan area (including Seoul, Incheon, Gyeonggi Province) and other tourist destinations located nearby each transit point (airport) in Korea,” pahayag ni Hyeji Kim, deputy director ng MCST sa panayam ng Manila Bulletin.

“The group tourists will be given a visa-free entrance to the Republic of Korea for a maximum of 15 days on the premise that Jeju Island is included in the tour itinerary and 5 days (10 days for Yangyang Airport transfer tourists) will be spent on other optional domestic destinations,” aniya,.
Ang mga naturang lugar sa Korea ay posibleng mapuntahan ng mga nasabing turista depende sa kanilang pagmumulan.
Kung magmumula sila sa Incheon at Gimpo International Airports, papayagan silang mabisita ang Seoul, Incheon, Gyeonggi Province at Gangwon Province kabilang din ang Pyeongchang, ang host city ng 2018 Winter Olympics.
Sa pagkakataon na dadaan sila sa Gimhae International Airport, papayagan silang mabisita ang metropolitan area ng Busan, Daegu, Ulsan, gayundin ang North at South Gyeongsang Province.
Mula sa Yangyang International Airport, mabibisita naman ng mga turista ang metropolitan area ng Gangwon Province kabilang na ang Pyeongchang.
Sakaling magmumula sa Cheongju International Airport, makakapasok din ang mga turista sa metropolitan area ng Daejeon, Sejong, North at South Chungcheong Province, North Jeolla Province, habang kung magmumula sa Muan International Airport, maaari nilang puntahan ang North at South Jeolla Province at Gwangju.
Layunin ng Korean government, na maenganyo ang mga turista mula sa Southeast Asia na magtungo sa South Korea at manood ng Pyeongchang Winter Olympics na nakatakda sa Pebrero 9-25, habang ang Paralympic Winter Games ay sa Marso 9-18.
“In order to welcome more Southeast Asian tourists to the PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games, we are still in discussion with related authorities of providing a 15-day visa-free program which does not require a mandatory visit to Jeju for group tourists entering Korea from Yangyang International Airport,” pahayag ni Kim.
