PUMUNTA ng Tokyo, Japan ang mag-asawang Christopher de Leon at Sandy Andolong bago ginanap ang grand coronation night ng Miss International 2017, para samahan ang anak nilang si Mariel de Leon na representative ng Pilipinas sa beauty pageant.
Bago pa man naganap ang coronation night, marami nang tinatanggap na bashing si Mariel. Lahat ng ito ay itinaas ni Sandy kay Lord sa kanyang prayers.

Our deepest gratitude to everyone who supported & truly cared for our daughter Mariel. Those who never left her side & had a change of heart in spite of all the negative feedbacks she has been receiving from other people. All because you chose to see only the good side of our daughter. Your love, prayers & encouragement has made her & the love of our family even stronger. We will forever be grateful. To all her haters & bashers I only speak of blessings from our good & loving GOD for all of you, & that is truly coming from my heart. We have such an amazing GOD! Everything that Mariel is doing now is not just for her or for her family but more so for our country, the Philippines, & for the greater glory of GOD. GOD bless our country & our people.”
Hindi pinalad na manalo si Mariel, pero naroon pa rin siya sa Japan ngayon. Nauna nang umuwi ang tatay niyang si Bo, dahil magsisimula na itong mag-taping ng bagong TV series na nagtatampok kina Bianca Umali at Miguel Tanfelix sa direksiyon ni Don Michael Perez.
Si Sandy ang naiwanang kasama ni Mariel sa Japan, sabay na silang uuwi ng Pilipinas kapag tapos na ang activities ng Miss International 2017 doon.
