Harvey Weinstein iniimbestigahan ng NY police, Academy magpupulong-Balita

NEW YORK (Reuters) – Sinabi ng New York City Police Department nitong Huwebes na iniimbestigahan nila ang alegasyon ng sexual assault ng movie producer na si Harvey Weinstein noong 2004.

“The NYPD is investigating an allegation of sex assault from 2004,” saad sa pahayag ng NYPD.

Nang tanungin ng Reuters sa pamamagitan ng email kung sangkot sa imbestigasyon si Weinstein, sumagot ang spokesperson ng, “Yes.”

“No comment” naman ang sagot ng spokeswoman ni Weinstein na si Sallie Hofmeister nang tanungin sa pamamagitan din ng email tungkol sa imbestigasyon ng NYPD.

Nauna nang itinanggi ng Hollywood producer ang anumang alegasyon ng non-consensual sex.

“Based on information referenced in published news reports the NYPD is conducting a review to determine if there are any additional complaints relating to the Harvey Weinstein matter,” ayon pa sa NYPD, idinagdag na wala pang natukoy na isinampang reklamo.

Ang imbestigasyon ng NYPD ay kasunod ng alegasyon ng maraming babaeng pinagsamantalahan o pinagtangkaan ni Weinstein sa loob ng tatlong dekada.

Sinabi naman ng Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, na bumubuo ng Oscars, nitong Miyerkules na magsasagawa ito ng special meeting sa Sabado para talakayin ang mga alegasyon laban kay Weinstein.

“The Academy finds the conduct described in the allegations against Harvey Weinstein to be repugnant, abhorrent, and antithetical to the high standards of the Academy and the creative community it represents,” saad sa pahayag ng Academy.

“The Board of Governors will be holding a special meeting on Saturday, October 14, to discuss the allegations against Weinstein and any actions warranted by the Academy.”

Nauna rito, noong Miyerkules ay sinuspinde si Weinstein sa British film academy BAFTA.

“In light of recent very serious allegations, BAFTA has informed Harvey Weinstein that his membership has been suspended, effective immediately,” saad sa pahayag ng academy.

Nanalo si Weinstein ng Oscar noong 1999 sa pagprodyus sa best picture winner na Shakespeare in Love.
