Inihayag kahapon ng hepe ng Armed Forces of the Philippines-Public Affairs Office (AFP-PAO) na kasalukuyan nitong bineberipika ang mga report tungkol sa alegasyon ng bagong aktibidad ng China malapit sa Pagasa Island sa West Philippine Sea (South China Sea).
Ito ay matapos sabihin ni Magdalo Party-list Rep. Gary Alejano, sa deliberasyon sa pondo ng Department of National Defense (DND), ang plano umano ng China na okupahin ang sandbars sa kanlurang bahagi ng Pagasa Island.
Namataan din ang ilang Chinese vessel malapit sa Pagasa Island.

Sinabi ni AFP-PAO chief Marine Col. Edgard Arevalo na bineberipika pa nila ang sinabi ni Alejano tungkol sa pakikialam umano ng China sa nasabing isla ng Pilipinas.
“Allow us to validate those information sa ngayon sapagkat ang ating commander dun sa area, eh, si Maj. Gen. Galileo Gerard Quintanar,” sinabi ni Arevalo sa mga mamamahayag. “I believe at this moment this is now with the Task Force West Philippine Sea. So we will learn from there kung ano ang latest development na puwede nilang i-report sa atin.”
Dagdag pa ni Arevalo, mananatiling tikom ang bibig ng AFP hanggang hindi pa nalilinawan ang sitwasyon.
“Lahat naman ng dealings natin sa West Philippine Sea are being handled by competent committee. That’s what we call the Task Force West Philippine Sea and all others that border on the interstate relations that is being handled by the DFA. Until then we would like to defer our other comments,” aniya.
