Ibinasura ng Department of Justice (DoJ) ang petisyon upang ipawalang-saysay ang kaso ng isa sa mga suspek sa pagdukot at pagpatay kay Jee Ick Joo.

Sa apat na pahinang resolusyon, binalewala ng DOJ ang petition for review ni retired policeman Gerardo “Ding” Santiago sa pagkabigong maghain ng apela sa takdang oras.

“The right to appeal is neither a natural right and it is not part of due process. It is merely a statutory privilege, and may be exercised only in accordance with the law,” base sa resolusyong nilagdaan ni Justice Undersecretary Raymund Mecate.
