Tinuligsa kahapon ni dating United Nations Ambassador at Liberal International (LI) President Dr. Juli Minoves ang mga awtoridad sa bansa na nagbawal sa kanyang bisitahin si Senator Leila de Lima sa pagkakapiit sa Camp Crame sa Quezon City, sinabing ang Pilipinas ay mayroon na ngayong “arbitrary kind of regime” at lumalala ang demokrasya at pagpapairal ng batas sa bansa.
Dating foreign minister ng Andorra, sinabi ni Minoves na siya ay “very disappointed” dahil hindi niya nagawang mabisita si de Lima, kahit pa ipinaalam niya sa mga awtoridad nitong Lunes ang tungkol sa paghaharap nila ng senadora.

Bumiyahe pa mula sa Europa si Minoves para makaharap si de Lima, kasama si LI Human Rights Committee Chairman Markus Loening.
“Clearly, it’s meant to prevent me from seeing Senator De Lima. It shows also a big dysfunction in the police command in this country that I spent two hours trying to talk to somebody to see where the letter is actually, in a very nice way I tried to see where the letter requesting my visit was, [which was] sent on Monday, so more than 5 days from the moment that is normally requested for to seeing somebody,” himutok ni Minoves.
Aniya, ikinatwiran ng mga pulis na hindi makita ng mga ito ang kanyang liham ngunit iginiit niyang natanggap ng kanyang mga kasamahan ang approval kahapon ng umaga.
“I firmly protest. I think this shows exactly what the regime is doing which is basically detaining Senator De Lima without the presumption of innocence and preventing international people from visiting her is basically threatening any body,” ani Minoves. “It shows the arbitrary kind of regime that you have in the Philippines.”
Kumakatawan sa mahigit 100 partido pulitikal sa mundo, una nang idinulog ng LI sa UN ang anila’y ilegal na pagkakapiit kay de Lima.
