Hindi huhulihin ang mga “kolorum” na sasakyan ng transport network companies (TNCs) na Grab at Uber matapos silang maghain kahapon ng kani-kaniyang apela laban sa kontrobersiyal na order ng Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) laban sa kanila.

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) sets up a one-stop shop inside its headquarters in Quezon City for the renewal of expired certificate of public convenience (CPC) of transport network vehicle services (TNVS) such as Uber and Grab whose franchises are about to expire until the end of July 2017. The One-Stop shop will be open from 8am to 3pm. The LTFRB shall issue a Memorandum Circular extending the validity of the CPC from 1 year to 2 years and shall also direct TNCs to extend their respective accreditation of their TNVS. Ayon sa LTFRB member at tagapagsalitang si Aileen Lizada, ang paghahain ng mga motion for reconsideration (MR) ay awtomatikong nagsuspinde sa kanilang kampanya laban sa mga transport network vehicle services (TNVS) na nag-o-operate nang walang permit, na nakatakdang magsimula sa Miyerkules, Hulyo 26.

“The filing of the MR technically holds in abeyance whatever decision, because it is not yet final. The pleading should be settled first,” ani Lizada.

Hiniling din kahapon ng Grab Philippines sa LTFRB na bawiin ng ahensiya ang kautusan nitong pagbawalan ang pagtanggap ng mga bagong aplikasyon para sa mga driver at sasakyan nito.

Nagbayad na rin kahapon ang Grab ng P5 milyon multa sa LTFRB, dalawang araw makaraang magmulta ng kaparehong halaga ang Uber.

Dahil dito, pansamantalang makapamamasada ang mga unit ng dalawang app-based ride-hailing service giant, habang kinukumpleto ng mga ito ang kinakailangang permit.

Nagbigay-daan ang LTFRB sa mosyon ng Grab at Uber batay sa napagkasunduan ng magkabilang panig sa pulong sa Senado nitong Miyerkules, nang namagitan sa kanila si Senator JV Ejercito.

“LTFRB and TNVS both have faults which caused this brouhaha. LTFRB should have approved or rejected applications faster. TNVS on the other hand shouldn’t have allowed units which have no papers at all into their system,” ani Ejercito.
