Mas hihigpitan ang seguridad sa ikalawang State of the Nation Address ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa pagdoble ng mga banta sa kanyang seguridad sa pagbangga niya sa mga drug trafficker at sa ISIS-influenced Maute terrorist group, ipinahayag kahapon ng House of Representatives sergeant-at-arms.
Sa SONA press briefing, sinopla ng House officials ang mga mungkahi na alisin ang red carpet welcome para sa key government officials, liderato ng diplomatic at business communities at iba pang panauhin na inimbitahan sa event sa Hulyo 24.
Ayon kina House Secretary General Cesar Pareja at Deputy Secretary General Artemio Adaza, ang mga miyembro sa Kongreso at kani-kanilang asawa at lahat ng bisita ay hinikayat na magsuot ng pormal na damit para sa SONA.

“Even if it is a working day, there is a special occasion din naman so we include red carpet to give due importance to the guests,” paliwanag ni Pareja.
Ayon kay Sgt-at-arms at retired Gen. Roland Detabali, aabot sa 6,000 pulis ang ipakakalat sa labas ng Batasang Pambansa Complex habang sa loob ay palilibutan ng militar at pulis, kabilang ang President Security Group.
“Definitely we will impose a heightened security measures not only because of the current problem on ISIS, but because of the huge achievements of the President especially on war on drugs and criminality,” ani Detabali.
Ipinaliwanag niya na hindi gaya noong nakaraang SONA, inaasahan ng security managers ang mga maraming raliyista na isasadula ang hindi nila pagiging kuntento sa kasalukuyang administrasyon.
“This year, mas maraming PNP and Armed Forces personnel, including crowd control elements because after one year, there are groups that are expected to air grievances against the Dutere government,” pahayag ni Detabali.
Kaugnay nito, ipinahayag ng Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) na 2,000 traffic enfrocer ang ipakakalat sa Quezon City para sa ikalawang SONA.
Ayon kay MMDA Chairman Danilo Lim, mamanduhan ng mga enforcer ang mga tao at motorista sa paligid ng Batasan.
