NASUNDAN ang pagre-resign bilang Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) execom members nina Ricky Lee, Kara Magsanoc-Alikpala at Rolando Tolentino ng resignation din ni Ed Lejano.

Nag-submit ng resignation si Ed Lejano noong July 7 at isa sa mga binanggit na rason ng kanyang resignation ang announcement ng MMFF sa unang apat na scripts ng pelikulang pasok sa filmfest. May “potentially chilling effects” daw ito sa film industry.

“It privileges the first four titles with plenty of lead time for promotions. Come October, when the next batch of finished films are selected, only a month remains for marketing and promotions for the latter four titles,” bahagi ng statement ni Ed Lejano.

Binanggit niya na ang “built-in disadvantage” ng four finished films na pipiliin pa lang at ia-announce sa October ay makakaapekto sa box-office performance at magiging dahilan sa shorter showing sa mga sinehan ng mga ito.

Nilinaw ni Ed Lejano na wala siyang problema sa pagsama sa blockbuster movies sa 2017 MMFF. Ang first four entries ay ang Ang Panday ni Coco Martin, ang Almost Is Not Enough nina Jericho Rosales at Jennylyn Mercado, ang The Revengers nina Vice Ganda, Pia Wurtzbach at Daniel Padilla at ang Love Traps nina Vic Sotto at Dawn Zulueta.

Naunang in-announce ni Rolando Tolentino ang pagre-resign ni Ed Lejano via Twitter at ang tweet nito, “Just to let everyone know and I maybe jumping the gun here, MMFF execom member Ed Lejano texted to say that he also resigned.
