LOS ANGELES – Nagawa niyang maging sporting icon sina Muhammad Ali at Manny Pacquiao. Ngayon, naniniwala si US promoter Bob Arum na magiging malaking pangalan si Australian champion Jeff Horn sakaling magapi niya ang Pinoy eight-division world champion.
At naniniwala siyang, hindi ito malayong mangyari.
“Jeff is the underdog but boxing history is full of upsets,’’ pahayag ni Arum “Can you imagine the worldwide media Jeff will get if he beats Pacquiao?, sambit ng pamosong promoter na nagdala kay Pacquiao sa pedestal bunsod nang malalaking laban sa international scene.
“He’s a bad, bad guy,’’ pahayag ni Arum.
Sa kanyang karanasan, sinabi ni Arum na si Ali ang ‘greatest teacher in the world’. “Ali was the most courageous person I have ever seen,” aniya.
“He gave up his livelihood for his beliefs. In the 1960s, Ali was not a popular guy ... but when people saw he was a man of conviction and principles, that he was willing to sacrifice everything, he gained tremendous respect around the world.”
