PINATUNAYAN nina Charmaine Skye Chua at Diane Gabrielle Panlilio ang kakayahan ng Pinay sa figure skating nang pagbidahan ang kani-kanilang event sa 2017 Southeast Asian (SEA) Figure Skating Challenge kamakailan sa SM Seaside City skating rink.

Nakopo ni Chua, incoming Grade 8 student sa Saint Jude Catholic School, ang gintong medalya sa Basic Novice B category sa torneo na sanctioned ng Asian Skating Union (ASU) at magkatuwang na itinaguyod ng Figure and Speed Skating Association of Thailand, Singapore Ice Skating Association, Ice Skating Association of Malaysia, Federasi Ice Skating Indonesia (FISI), at Philippine Skating Union (PSU).

“I was nervous during the competition, I’m glad I won,” pahayag ng 14-anyos na si Chua.

Nakamit naman ng 13-anyos na si Panlilio ang gintong medalya sa Advanced Novice category kontra Malaysian Kyla Ichelle Ernest.

“Overall, I am happy with my performance. I did my best,” pahayag ni Panlilio, Grade 9 student sa St. Paul’s College sa Pasig City.

Ang torneo ay ikatlong leg ng SEA Challenge. Ginanap ang unang leg sa Bangkok, Thailand nitong Dec. 2-4, 2016, habang host ang Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia sa second leg nitong April 13-15, 2017.

Nagwagi si Chua ng silver medal sa Thailand leg nang gapiin siya ni local bet Napasakorn Boonnark, habang isa pang Pinay na si Skye Frances Patenia ang nagwagi ng bronze medal.
