Umaasa ang Department of National Defense (DND) at ang Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) na manu-neutralize na nilang lahat ang miyembro ng Maute Group sa Marawi City hanggang sa Huwebes—Hunyo 1, 2017.

Sa text message sa mga mamamahayag, sinabi ni Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana na target ng militar na lipulin ang lahat ng terorista sa Marawi sa Huwebes.

“Yes, I am updated regularly. The timetable is one week from May 25 to June 1,” sabi ni Lorenzana. “Yes, we are on track.”

Ito rin ang inaasam ni AFP Chief of Staff General Eduardo Año, sinabing nais nilang matapos na kaagad ang krisis sa Marawi City upang maibalik na sa kaayusan ang pamumuhay sa siyudad.

“And our soldiers are focused and working hard to ensure that Maute Group, and those in supporting this terror organization, are neutralized,” sabi ni Año.

“For now, I would like to extend my sincerest condolences to the families of our soldiers and policemen who have made the ultimate sacrifice in our efforts to clear Marawi. Rest assured that their sacrifices will not be in vain as we move forward in our operations,” dagdag ni Año.

Sinegundahan naman ni AFP Public Affairs Office (PAO) chief Edgard Arevalo ang pahayag nina Lorenzana at Año.

“We are hoping in a matter of days we can resolve this. However, that will depend in the situation on the ground. As days go by there are intervening factors that come in which we cannot factor. That’s why it’s hard to give any assurance on how many days it will be,” sabi ni Arevalo.

AIR STRIKES IDINEPENSA

Kasabay nito, umapela si AFP Spokesperson BGen. Restituto Padilla sa publiko na pagtiwalaan ang militar matapos idepensa ang isinasagawang air strikes sa Marawi.

“Yes, we do have the expertise, we do have the people, and we have the equipment to do surgical airstrikes. Please do not underestimate your soldiers,” sinabi ni Padilla sa kauna-unahang “Mindanao Hour” sa Malacañang kahapon ng umaga.

“We have been into this fight longer than any country in this part of the world and anywhere else. We have proven ourselves many times,” dagdag pa ni Padilla.

Sinabi naman ni Arevalo na nasa 61 terorista na ang napapatay sa pinagsanib na operasyon ng militar at pulisya, may 15 pulis at sundalo na rin ang nasawi, habang 19 naman ang namatay na sibilyan.

Nasa 14 na bangkay—isang babae at lalaki, tatlong bata, walong lalaking teenager at isang hinihinalang miyembro ng Maute—ang nailabas ng ARMM-HEART sa lungsod kahapon, para dalhin sa isang punerarya sa Iligan.

Umaabot naman sa 61 sundalo at pulis ang nasugatan sa labanan.

84,450 APEKTADO

Samantala, inihayag din kahapon ng Autonomous Region for Muslim Mindanao-Humanitarian Emergency Action and Response Team (ARMM-HEART) na nasa 17,007 pamilya o 84,450 indibiduwal ang lumikas sa kaguluhan.

Ayon kay Myrna Jo Henry, information officer ng ARMM HEART, kasalukuyang nakatuloy ang mga lumikas sa 17 munisipalidad sa Lanao del Sur, at sa walong evacuation center sa Iligan City.
