Binatikos ng isang opisyal ng Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) ang pag-ayaw ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa tulong ng European Union (EU).
Ayon kay Father Edwin Gariguez, executive secretary ng CBCP-National Secretariat for Social Action Justice and Peace o Caritas Philippines, ‘short-sighted’ ang desisyon ng Pangulo.
“This short sightedness is echoed even in making foreign or economic policy which is extremely detrimental to the welfare and interest of the poor, like this decision not to accept EU aid,” ani Gariguez. - Mary Ann Santiago
