Kinilala ng Amnesty International (AI) si Senator Leila de Lima bilang isa sa “Women Human Rights Defenders who continue to protect human rights.”
Sa 46-pahinang Human Rights Defenders Under Threat, sinabi ng AI na si De Lima ay nananatiling tagapagtanggol ng karapatang pantao kahit na siya ay nakakulong.
“Since leading an investigation by the Senate into President Duterte’s violent ‘war on drugs’, which has claimed over 7000 lives since July 2016, Senator De Lima has been subjected to a targeted campaign of misogynistic attacks and character assassination by the President and his allies,” saad sa ulat.

Nangako naman si De Lima na hindi isusuko ang kanyang laban.
