Maghahain ng reklamo ang Pilipinas sa United Nations matapos mabigo ang isa sa mga human rights investigator nito na abisuhan ang gobyerno sa kanyang pagbisita sa Manila kahapon, na isa diumanong malinaw na senyales na hindi ito interesado sa patas na pananaw.
Si Dr. Agnes Callamard, UN Special Rapporteur on Extrajudicial Summary, ay nagbigay ng talumpati sa policy forum na inorganisa ng Free Legal Assistance Group (FLAG) Anti Death Penalty Task Force na ginanap sa University of the Philippines, Diliman, Quezon City kahapon. Sinabi niyang hindi opisyal ang kanyang pagbisita sa bansa.
Sinabi ni Presidential Spokesman Ernesto Abella na inatasan ng gobyerno ang kinatawan sa UN na ireklamo ang ginawa ni Callamard.
“This is a matter we have asked our representatives at the United Nations to take up with their United Nations counterparts and it is something our delegation in Geneva will certainly be raising during their current visit,” pahayag ni Abella.

Idiniin niya na dumating si Callamard “in a manner that circumvents all recognized United Nations protocols for such visits.”
“We are disappointed that, in not contacting our government in advance of this visit, she has sent a clear signal that she is not interested in getting an objective perspective on the issues that are the focus of her responsibility,” ani Abella.
Si Callamard, French humanitarian, ay masugid na kritiko ng kampanya kontra ilegal na droga ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte dahil nauwi diumano ito sa extrajudicial killing at ikinamatay ng libu-ibong katao.
Ipinaalala ni Abella na inimbitahan ng gobyerno si Callamard na bumisita sa Pilipinas noong Setyembre 2016, ngunit hindi ito sumagot sa imbitasyon.
“The fact that Dr. Callamard did not respond to our invitation showed that she would not be approaching her review of allegations concerning our country objectively or comprehensively,” ani Abella.
Sa kanyang talumpati, sinabi ni Callamard na sa halip na epektibong resolbahin ang problema sa illegal drugs, nagpatupad ang gobyernong Duterte ng hindi maayos na plano at istratehiya, na lalong nagpapalala sa problema.
“Badly thought out, ill-conceived drug policies not only fail to address substantively drug dependency, drug-related criminality, and the drug trade, they add more problems,” sabi ni Callamard.
