BEIJING – Iprinotesta ng China ang pagtungo ng pinakamatataas na opisyal ng militar ng Pilipinas sa Pag-asa Island sa Kalayaan, Palawan nitong Biyernes, ayon sa tagapagsalita ng Chinese Foreign Ministry.
“Gravely concerned about and dissatisfied with this, China has lodged representations with the Philippine side,” saad sa pahayag ni Lu Kang na ipinaskil sa website ng Foreign Ministry Affairs ng China.
Pinangunahan nina Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana at Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff Gen. Eduardo Año ang iba pang opisyal ng militar at mga kinatawan ng iba’t ibang ahensiya ng gobyerno sa pagtungo nitong Biyernes sa Pag-asa Island na bahagi ng pinag-aagawang Spratly Islands sa South China Sea/West Philippine Sea.
Sinabi ni Lu na dahil sa ginawa ng grupo nina Lorenzana at Año ay nabalewala ang mahalagang napagkasunduan sa pagitan nina Chinese President Xi Jinping at Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.

“This move runs counter to the important consensus reached between the two leadership, which is to properly deal with the South China Sea issue,” ani Lu.
“We hope that the Philippine side could faithfully follow the consensus reached between the two leadership, maintain general peace and stability in the South China Sea, and promote the sound and steady development of China-Philippine relations,” dagdag pa niya.
‘OUR TERRITORY’
Sa mga ulat ni media, inilarawan ni Lorenzana ang pagdalaw niya sa Pag-asa bilang isang “normal visit within our territory”.
“We believe and we know that this is our territory and I am just visiting to look at the conditions of our people here,” anang kalihim.
Inihayag din ni Lorenzana nitong Biyernes na plano ng gobyerno na maglaan ng P1.6 bilyon upang pagandahin ang Pag-asa Island.
Napaulat na ilang beses na tinangkang pigilan ng mga awtoridad mula sa China ang pagtungo ng grupo ni Lorenzana sa Pag-asa nitong Biyernes.
PAGTATABOY SA MGA MANGINGISDA
Samantala, sinabi rin ng China na mag-iimbestiga ito tungkol sa mga ulan na itinaboy ng Chinese Coast Guard ang ilang Pilipinong mangingisda mula sa Union Bank sa South China Sea.
“I honestly do not know anything about what you said. You yourself mentioned that the vessels are unidentified, and all sides are in the process of verifying the situation. China also needs to check on that,” ani Lu sa press conference.
Kinukumpirma pa rin ng AFP at Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) ang nasabing insidente, nang ilang beses pa umanong pinaputukan ang mga mangingisda para maitaboy palayo. (PNA)
