NABIGO si one-time world title challenger Lorenzo Villanueva ng Pilipinas na maagaw ang WBO Asia Pacific super featherweight title ni Masayuki Ito nang dalawang beses siyang mapabagsak at matalo via 9th round TKO kamakailan sa Korakuen Hall sa Tokyo, Japan.

“Fast-rising Masayuki Ito, 130, impressively kept his WBO Asia Pacific super-featherweight belt when he dropped hard-hitting Filipino Lorenzo, 130, in the second and the ninth en route to a fine stoppage at 1:40 of the ninth round in Tokyo, Japan,” ayon sa ulat ng Fightnews.com.

“Hard-punching as he was, Villanueva looked stiff and vulnerable to the champ’s quick and snappy shots, early hitting the deck in the second,” dagdag sa ulat. “The Filipino showed his heart, but the Japanese champ, despite a swollen right optic, was apparently in command, whipping him with more effective shots. Ito turned loose and again floored the damaged opponent in the fatal ninth. The ref (Katsuhiko) Nakamura made a well-timed halt to the challenger to save him from further punishment.”

Sa pagwawagi, inaasahang aangat sa world rankings si Ito kung saan nakalista siyang No. 4 sa WBO, No. 10 sa IBF at No. 15 sa WBC.

Goodbye PBA?
