Sa unang pagkakataon sa loob ng 32 taong pagsisikap na magkaroon ng kapayapaan sa pagitan ng Philippine Government (GRP) at ng mga rebeldeng komunista, gaganapin sa bansa ang isa sa pinakamahalagang negosasyon.
Tatalakayin sa Abril 20 ang Comprehensive Agreement on Socio-Economic Reforms (CASER), sinasabing “heart and soul” ng peace talks ng GRP at ng Communist Party of the Philippines-National Democratic Front (CPP-NDF) sa Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) o sa isang lugar na tutukuyin ni Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista, miyembro ng GRP team CASER.
Pag-uusapan ng mga kinatawan ng GRP at NDF, ang isyu sa genuine land reform, rural development, national industrialization at foreign policy.
Anuman ang kanilang mapagkakasunduan ay tatalakayin sa Fifth Round ng mga pag-uusap, na gaganapin sa Noorwicjk, The Netherlands sa Mayo at Hunyo.

“Definitely, this will happen. Socio-economic reforms will be settled in the country at our level,” sabi ni GRP Caser group head Roberto Dator.
At para palakasin ang suporta sa mga negosasyon sa CASER, sinabi ni GRP peace panel member officer-in-charge Hernani Braganza na magkakaroon sila ng tema na magtataas ng kamalayan ng publiko sa mga isyu sa peace talks.
“We want to carry the theme, ‘Okay ka, CaSer!’ We will print it on t-shirts, fliers and tarpaulin posters, because this is an issue that we want everybody to get involved in. The earlier that we achieve peace, the farther we reach about our intentions, the better,” ani Braganza. (ROCKY NAZARENO)
