Pinaalalahanan ng isang waste and pollution watch group ang publiko na maging disiplinado sa kani-kanilang summer destination.
Ayon kay Ochie Tolentino, zero waste campaigner ng EcoWaste Coalition, huwag na huwag mag-iiwan ng mga basura kung saan-saan na maaaring mapunta at makalason sa dagat.
“We appeal to all vacationers not to abandon their discards in our beaches and other recreational sites,” pakiusap ni Tolentino. “Leave only your footprints in the sands. Please don’t leave your cigarette butts, plastics and leftover foods behind.”
“Keeping our beaches and shores free of trash is one way of reducing the volume of marine litter that is turning our seas into giant landfills to the detriment of the marine wildlife,” dagdag pa ni Tolentino.
Payo pa niya, mas makabubuting magdala ng sariling garbage bags at itapon sa tamang tapunan ang sariling mga kalat.
Paalala pa ng grupo na mas magiging makabuluhan ang bakasyon kung hindi ito magiging dahilan ng pagkasira ng kalikasan. (Mary Ann Santiago)
