MAY nababanaag na pag-asa na maganap ang intriguing match sa pagitan nina retired boxing superstar Floyd Mayweather, Jr. at UFC champion Conor McGregor.

Sa kaniyang 40th birthday party kamakailan sa Los Angeles, sinabi ni Mayweather na mayroon silang dahilan kung bakit dapat magkaroon ng negosasyon sa pagitan ng kanilang kampo at ni McGregor.

“I don’t know if the fight is going to happen. If it do, it’d do. If it don’t, it don’t. But if it did happen that would be my last fight. But of course, that fight makes a lot of sense,” pahayag ni Mayweather.

Sinabi pa ni Mayweather na magkakaroon ng saysay ang kaniyang laban kay McGregor kahit na magkaiba sila ng sport.

Bilang pound-for-pound king, nakapagtala si Mayweather ng malinis na 49-0 record, kabilang ang 26 knockout, habang current UFC lightweight champion si McGregor.

“It’s all about entertainment. That could be the biggest fight in the history of the sport. We’ll just see,” sambit ni Mayweather.

Dagdag pa ni Mayweather, may ibubuga si McConor sa boxing kahit na ito ang kaniyang magiging pro debut sa naturang sport.

“The thing that we do know is Conor McGregor has never lost standing up. We’ve seen him lose before on the ground.

But standing up, Conor can fight,” pahayag ni Mayweather.

Sinasabing $100 milyon ang presyo ni Mayweather para ito makumbinsi na muling bumalik sa pagboboksing.

Huling nakatikim ng premyong lagpas sa US$100 milyon si Mayweather nang makaharap si eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao sa tinaguriang “Fight of the Century’ noong 2015 sa Las Vegas. (Dennis Principe)
