Nanawagan si Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop at Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) President Socrates Villegas sa publiko na ipanalangin ang pagkakaroon ng “healing” sa bansa, kasunod ng pag-aresto kay Senator Leila de Lima kahapon dahil sa kinahaharap nitong tatlong kaso ng droga sa Muntinlupa City Regional Trial Court (RTC).
Sa kanyang press statement, humiling din ng panalangin ang arsobispo na pagkalooban ng Panginoon ng “passion” ang publiko hindi para sa paghihiganti, kundi para sa pagkakamit ng hustisya.
“Following the arrest of Senator Leila de Lima, we turn to God in fervent prayer to heal our land,” saad sa press statement ni Villegas. “We beg the Lord to pour forth upon us the passion NOT for vengeance but for justice.”
“We humbly pray to the Lord who called Himself the Truth to set our hearts aflame for the truth, the truth that sets all of us free,” dagdag pa ni Villegas. “I pray for the healing of our land and for the reign of harmony.”

SAFE AND SECURE
Sa harap naman ng mga pangamba tungkol sa kaligtasan ng senadora sa pagkakapiit sa Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Center sa Camp Crame, tiniyak ni Presidential Spokesman Ernesto Abella ang kaligtasan ni De Lima.
“The PNP Chief himself, Director-General Ronald Dela Rosa, assured the senator’s safety and security in the PNP Custodial Center, Camp Crame,” sabi ni Abella.
Una nang tiniyak ni Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo ang seguridad sa piitan ng 57-anyos na senadora.
Siniguro rin ni Abella na magiging patas ang paglilitis sa kaso ni De Lima.
“The Muntinlupa RTC has now acted on the case of Sen. Leila de Lima. The Senator will be treated with fairness and accorded due process. She will have the opportunity to defend herself and prove her innocence,” ani Abella.
‘POLITICAL HARASSMENT’
Tinawag ni Vice President Leni Robredo na “political harassment” ang pagdakip kay De Lima, habang sinabi naman ni dating Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile na kung totoong inosente ang senadora ay wala itong dapat na ikatakot.
Samantala, nangako naman si Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV na pag-iibayuhin pa niya ang paglalantad sa aniya’y kabuktutan ni Pangulong Duterte ngayong tuluyan na nitong naipakulong si De Lima.
