BERLIN (reuters) – Sinabi ng editor-in-chief ng Der Spiegel noong Linggo na ang front cover illustration ni U.S. President Donald Trump na pinugutan ang Statue of Liberty, ay tugon ng German magazine sa mga banta laban sa demokrasya.
Inilathala noong Sabado, inilalarawan sa cover ang cartoon figure ni Trump na may hawak na duguang patalim sa isang kamay at sa kabilang kamay naman ang pugot na ulo ng istatwa na may tumutulong dugo. May caption ito na: “America First”.
“Der Spiegel does not want to provoke anybody,” paliwanag ni editor-in-chief Klaus Brinkbaeumer sa Reuters TV matapos magbunsod ng mga debate sa Twitter at sa German at international media ang pabalat. Idinagdag niya na nasorpresa siya sa epekto ng illustration.
“We want to show what this is about, it’s about democracy, it’s about freedom, it’s about freedom of the press, freedom of justice and all that is seriously endangered,” aniya.
