Nakiisa ang iba’t ibang samahan ng mga Filipino-American sa Hawaii sa malawak na coalition ng civil liberty groups sa United States para tutulan ang executive order ni US President Donald Trump.
Nilagdaan ni Trump kautusan na pinamagatang “Protection of the nation from foreign terrorist entry into the United States” ilang araw matapos ang kanyang inagurasyon. Sinususpindi nito ang pagtanggap ng Syrian refugees sa Amerika “indefinitely”, iba pang refugee resettlement sa loob ng 120 araw, at ipinagbabawal ang pagpasok ng mga mamamayan mula sa Iraq, Syria, Iran, Sudan, Libya, Somalia, at Yemen sa loob ng 90 araw.
Sa isang liham, inilarawan ng coalition ang executive order na “racist, discriminatory and ill-advised national policies.”
“There is no place in Hawaii and our nation,” ayon sa alyansa idinagdag na ang executive order ay “un-American and mean spirited.”

Kabilang sa coalition ang Filipino American Advocacy Network, Filipino American Citizens League, Hawaii Filipino Lawyers Association, at National Federation of Filipino American Associations Region 12.
“Our rights and liberties as Americans are not made stronger by excluding others,” punto ng alyansa. “Rather, the strength of our local communities and our nation is based on embracing people from all over the world. We are a state and a nation of immigrants that should honor our native peoples as well as those who seek refuge here.”
Nangako ang grupo na lalabanan ang mga susunod pang polisiya na isinasantabi ang isang tao batay sa kanyang relihiyon at lahi. (Roy C. Mabasa)
