Peace process sa 'Pinas, tinalakay sa UN assembly

Binigyang-pansin sa high-level dialogue ng United Nations General Assembly sa New York kamakailan ang pagsisikap ng administrasyong Duterte na matamo ang pangmatagalang kapayapaan sa Mindanao sa pamamagitan ng pagsusulong sa kaunlaran.

Ayon sa Department of Foreign Affairs, nagtalumpati si Presidential Adviser for the Peace Process Secretary Jesus G. Dureza sa High-Level Dialogue ng General Assembly sa “Building Sustainable Peace for all: Synergies between the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and Sustaining Peace” noong Enero 24.

Si UN General Assembly President Peter Thomson ang namuno sa okasyon. Naging tagapagsalita sina UN Secretary General António Guterres, UN Security Council President Margot Wallström (Sweden), at UN Economic and Social Council President Frederick Makamure Shava (Zimbabwe).

Sa kanyang talumpati, nagbigay si Dureza ng mga update sa iba’t ibang peace tables sa Pilipinas, partikular na sa Bangsamoro at Communist Party of the Philippines/New Peoples’ Army/National Democratic Front (CC/NPA/NDF), gayundin sa framework ng comprehensive peace and development ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.

Sinabi ni Dureza na ang peace and development agenda ng Pangulo sa susunod na anim na taon ay naglalayong matiyak ang tagumpay sa peace process kasabay ng pagapabuti sa seguridad ng mga mamamayan sa mga komunidad na apektado ng digmaan.

“We envision an empowered people, instilled with a sense of responsibility and accountability and the ability to resist violence and transform conflicts, to form the bedrock of sustainable peace and development,” aniya.

Nauna rito, nagsalita rin si Dureza sa Third Symposium sa “The Role of Religion and Faith-based Organisations in International Affairs” na may temang “Just, Inclusive and Sustainable Peace,” kung saan pinag-usapan ang peace process sa Pilipinas at Colombia. (Roy C. Mabasa)
