NAGSAMA-SAMA ang mga a-list celebrity ng Hollywood sa martsa noong Sabado sa Washington at ibang pang mga lungsod para kalampagin ang bagong pangulo ng US na si Donald Trump sa karapatan ng kababaihan, dahil ang “women’s right are human rights.”
Kabilang sina Madonna, Julia Roberts, Scarlett Johansson, Cher, Alicia Keys, Katy Perry, Emma Watson, Amy Schumer, Jake Gyllenhaal at feminist leader na si Gloria Steinem sa mga nagmartsa sa Washington, na ayon sa mga opisyal ay umabot sa mahigit kalahating milyon.
Sa New York, sumali sina Helen Mirren, Cynthia Nixon, at Whoopi Goldberg sa mga nagprotesta sa tahanan ni Trump sa Trump Tower.

Sa Park City, Utah, na may nagaganap na Sundance Film Festival, nakasama ng TV host na si Chelsea Handler sina Charlize Theron, Kristen Stewart at marami pang iba. Sa Los Angeles, sina Miley Cyrus, Jamie Lee Curtis, Demi Lovato, at Jane Fonda ay nakibahagi rin sa libu-libong babae na nagprotesta.
Sa capital, makikita ang crowd na nakasuot ng pink at may pointy-eared “pussyhats” na panlilibak sa bagong pangulo.
“Yes, I have thought an awful lot about blowing up the White House,” saad ni Madonna. “But I know that this won’t change anything. We cannot fall into despair.” Sa halip, nanawagan siya ng “revolution of love.”
Sa panayam naman sa backstage sa pop icon na si Cher, umaasa siya na magsasama-sama ang mga tao laban kay Trump tulad ng pagkakabuklod ng mga tao laban sa Vietnam War.
“I think people are more frightened than they’ve ever been,” saad ng 70-anyos na singer. “Everything that we gained, we’re just watching slip away. It’s not only one thing, it’s everything — the progress that we made is all going away.”
Nang tanungin kung sa palagay niya ay pakikinggan ng bagong pangulo ang mensahe ng martsa, tugon niya: “I don’t care what he’s hearing. It’s important what the people are hearing. He’ll hear it, but he won’t pay attention.”
Binigyang-diin din ng aktres na si Edie Falco ng Sopranos at Nurse Jackie na, “Everyone I know is here today.”
“Nothing has ever felt this important in my lifetime,” aniya. “We’re not just going to say, ‘it’s OK,’” dagdag niya tungkol sa agenda ni Trump. “Because it’s not OK.”
Inihayag naman ng aktres na si America Ferrera sa mga libu-libong nagmartsa “for the moral core of this nation, against which our new president is waging a war. Our dignity, our character, our rights have all been under attack, and a platform of hate and division assumed power yesterday. But the president is not America. … We are America, and we are here to stay.”
Mayroon ding kalalakihang dumalo sa Washington march – na ang iba ay nakasuot din ng “pussyhats” bilang pakikiisa. Kabilang sa mga nagtanghal sina Maxwell at Janelle Monae.
“It’s because of women that we’re all here,” ani Maxwell. “I’m so happy to say that I was here for the women. This is one for the books.”
Sa New York, sinabi ni Whoopi Goldberg sa crowd na, “what’s at stake is everything you believe in… We’re going to show America what we can do in New York.”
Sinabi ng British na si Helen Mirren na ngayon isa siyang New Yorker. Nagpahayag si Chynthia Nixon na sumali siya sa martsa “(to) tell Washington they need to think twice about messing with women and think twice about messing with New Yorkers. We will not just roll over and play dead.”
Sa Park City, sumama sina John Legend at mga aktor na sina Benjamin Bratt at Jason Ritter sa mga aktres na sina Theron, Stewart, Maria Bello, at Laura Dern sa tinatayang 8,000 katao na nag-chant ng: “Love, not hate, will make America great,”
Sa Washington, may hawak-hawak na placard ang Oscar-winning actress na si Patricia Arquette na may nakasulat na, “Put Women in the Constitution.
“The arts is our culture,” aniya. “A lot is at stake. …We need to be heard and respected. They need to know we are a force to be reckoned with.” (AP)
