MAS matibay at mas progresibong mixed martial arts fights ang naghihintay para sa mga lokal fighters – hindi lang sa bansa bagkus sa abroad.

Ito ang ibinida ni URCC president Alvin Aguilar matapos makuha ang ayuda ng Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor) para sa unang programa ng asosasyon sa taong 2017 – ang ‘Battle Extreme Tournament of Superstars (BETS) sa Enero 28 sa Coral Ballroom ng Casino Filipino sa Waterfront Pavilion Hotel.

“Expect more tournament here and abroad for our Filipino fighters as Pagcor extends its support in the emerging sports of mixed martial arts. With Pagcor’s help, mas masisiguro natin ang mas malaking premyo sa ating mga fighters,” sambit ni Aguilar sa isinagawang press conference para sa BETS.

Tampok sa main event ng 10-fight card ang duwelo sa pagitan ng beteranong sina Caloy ‘Bad Boy’ Baduria kontra sa sumisikat na si Jess Dela Pena.

Sinabi naman ni Pagcor Assistant Vice President for Entertainment Jimmy Bondoc na naniniwala ang ahensiya na malaki ang potensyal ng mga Pilipino sa MMA kung kaya’t ibinigay nila ang suporta para maging sandigan sa progreso ng sports.

“MMA is rapidly gaining popularity among Filipinos especially since the country has emerged as a major player in the Asian regional scene with a number of Filipino fighters gaining titles and recognition in the world,” pahayag ni Bondoc.

Iginiiit ng dating Pop singer na handa ang ahensiya na umayuda hindi lamang sa entertainment industry bagkus maging sa sports bukod sa kahandaan para sa kawang-gawa.

“We want to promote some of the country’s best pro-fighters at the same time bring a whole new level of entertainment to our guests and patrons,” aniya.
