Dapat samantalahin ng Department of Tourism (DoT) ang Miss Universe event na idaraos sa bansa upang maipakita ang kagandahan ng hindi pa naipapakilalang mga probinsiya at isla sa Pilipinas, pahayag ni Siquijor Rep. Rav Rocamora.
Ito ang panawagan ni Rocamora dalawang linggo bago ang coronation night ng 2016 Miss Universe beauty pageant, na gaganapin sa SM Mall of Asia (MoA) Arena sa Enero 30.
Sinabi ng baguhang mambabatas na napakaraming isla sa Pilipinas na kasing ganda rin ng Boracay, Palawan o Bohol ngunit hindi pa nakikilala.
“The Department of Tourism’s effort to secure for our country the hosting duties of this year’s Miss Universe pageant is indeed laudable. This is definitely a rare opportunity for the country to boost tourist arrivals and showcase our islands,” sabi ni Rocamora.

“I am hopeful that the benefits of such hosting duties cascade to all places in the country, especially the lesser-known areas in the country,” dagdag niya.
Inanyayahan din ni Rocamora ang pageant contestants at ang Miss Universe organization na dalawin ang Siquijor.
“Our country is blessed with abundant natural resources and interesting places to visit. Governor Villa and I, together with the province’s leaders would like to invite the DoT and Miss Universe contestants to our own small province of Siquijor. I’m sure they will enjoy their visit to our small island,” sabi niya.
“My home island is not as modern or developed as the other bigger provinces and cities but it does have its own share of unique tourist spots and it has the same hospitable and good-natured people as the rest of the country,” aniya pa.
Mahigit 80 kandidata mula sa buong mundo ang nagsisidatingan na sa Manila para sa pinakahihintay na international event.
Ito ang ikatlong pagdaraos ng Miss Universe sa Pilipinas, ang dalawa ay naganap noong 1974 at 1994.
