Masaya ang China sa naging pahayag kamakailan ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte na isasantabi niya ang South China Sea arbitration, walang hihilingin sa Chinese government at walang balak ang Pilipinas na labanan ang China.

Ayon kay Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hua Chunying, ang polisiya ni Duterte sa South China Sea arbitration ay suwak sa “fundamental interests” ng dalawang bansa at ng mga mamamayan nito, at patunay ng lumalalim at gumagandang relasyon ng China at Pilipinas.

“Ever since President Duterte’s successful visit to China last October, China-Philippines relations have improved across the board and moved forward,” sabi ni Hua sa press briefing sa Beijing, na ang salin ay ipinaskil sa official website ng Chinese Embassy sa Manila. “Bilateral mutual trust keeps building up and pragmatic cooperation in various fields runs in full fledge with fruitful results.”

“China is willing to work with the Philippines to enhance political mutual trust, properly handle the South China Sea issue and realize common development,” dagdag niya.
