CAMBODIA — Apat na kasunduan ang inaasahang pagtitibayin ng Pilipinas at Cambodia sa dalawang araw na state visit ni Pangulong Duterte dito, ayon kay Philippine Ambassador to Cambodia Christopher Montero. Ito ay sa larangan ng turismo, sports development, labor protection, at anti-transnational crime efforts.
“For now, we are expecting at least two agreements to be signed — one on sports cooperation, one on tourism cooperation and we are in the process of finalizing the text of two more agreements, one on transnational crime and the other on labor cooperation,” sabi ni Montero sa media interview sa Phnom Penh kahapon.
Martes ng gabi dumating ang Pangulo sa Phnom Penh para sa first stop ng kanyang December 13-16 state visits sa Cambodia at Singapore. Agad siyang nakipagkumustahan sa Filipino community dito. Miyerkules ng tanghali magaganap ang kanilang pagpupulong ni Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen gayundin sa mga lokal na negosyante. Kinagabihan ay makakasalo niya sa royal banquet si Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni.
Ibinahagi ni Montero na mataas ang pagtingin ng Cambodia kay Pangulong Duterte at patunay ang pagtaas sa kanyang “official visit” sa “state visit”.

“Prime Minister Hun Sen has a deep admiration for President Duterte. He has expressed it publicly in the past,” sinabi ni Montero. "The fact that it was elevated to a state visit only shows, demonstrates, that Cambodia attaches great value to its bilateral relations with the Philippines in spite of certain differences in our approach to the South China Sea issue.”
Kasama sa delegasyon ng Pangulo si Senator Manny Pacquiao para isulong ang sports cooperation. Ayon kay Montero, sikat at iniidolo ng mga Cambodian si Pacquiao, at maging ang Prime Minister ay tagahanga nito.
“He is to them an example of an Asian making it big in the international sports scene,” aniya.
