WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Sinabi ni US President-elect Donald Trump na hindi nakatali ang United States sa matagal na nitong posisyon na ang Taiwan ay bahagi ng “one China,” at kinuwestyon ang halos apat na dekada nang polisiya.
Ang mga komento ni Trump sa Fox News noong Linggo ay kasunod ng diplomatic protest ng China kaugnay sa kanyang desisyon na tanggapin ang tawag sa telepono noong Disyembre 2 mula sa pangulo ng Taiwan.
“I fully understand the ‘one China’ policy, but I don’t know why we have to be bound by a ‘one China’ policy unless we make a deal with China having to do with other things, including trade,” ani Trump sa Fox News.
Ang tawag ni Trump kay Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen ay ang unang contact ng Taiwan sa isang US president-elect o president simula 1979 nang kilalanin ni President Jimmy Carter ang Taiwan na bahagi ng “one China.”

Sa parehong panayam ng Fox, binatikos ni Trump ang China sa mga polisiya nito sa pananalapi, aktibidad sa South China Sea at paninindigan sa North Korea. Ayon sa kanya, hindi ang Beijing ang magdedesisyon kung sasagutin niya o hindi ang tawag ng lider ng Taiwan.
“I don’t want China dictating to me and this was a call put in to me,” ani Trump. “It was a very nice call. Short. And why should some other nation be able to say I can’t take a call?”
“I think it actually would’ve been very disrespectful, to be honest with you, not taking it,” dagdag ni Trump.
Naglitanya rin si Trump ng mga reklamo niya tungkol sa China.
“We’re being hurt very badly by China with devaluation, with taxing us heavy at the borders when we don’t tax them, with building a massive fortress in the middle of the South China Sea, which they shouldn’t be doing, and frankly with not helping us at all with North Korea,” ani Trump. “You have North Korea. You have nuclear weapons and China could solve that problem and they’re not helping us at all.”
