WASHINGTON (Reuters/AP) — Pinangalanan ng Time Magazine si United States President-elect Donald Trump bilang Person of the Year, binanggit ang biglaang pagbabago sa American politics na idinulot ng election campaign at pagkapanalo ng New York businessman.

“It’s hard to measure the scale of his disruption,” sabi ng Time sa anunsyo nitong Miyerkules, binanggit ang makulay na karera ni Trump bilang real estate magnate at reality television star bago mapanalunan ang pinakamataas na posisyon sa bansa.

“For those who believe this is all for the better, Trump’s victory represents a long-overdue rebuke to an entrenched and arrogant governing class,” ayon sa Time.

Sinabi ng magazine na kabilang sa short list ang karibal ni Trump sa 2016 presidential race na si Democrat Hillary Clinton at si Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan.

“It’s a great honor, it means a lot,” sabi ni Trump sa panayam ng “Today” show ng NBC matapos ang announcement.

Nakasulat sa cover line ng Time – “Donald Trump: President of the Divided States of America” – sa tabi ng cover photo ng president-elect na nakaupo sa kanyang private residence sa Trump Tower.

“I didn’t divide ‘em,” dagdag ni Trump. “We’re going to put it back together and we’re going to have a country that’s very well-healed.”

Sinabi ni Time editor Nancy Gibbs na “straightforward” ang pagpili ng magazine sa tao na nagkaroon ng pinakamalaking impluwensiya sa mga pangyayari “for better or worse.”
