Ipagdiwang nang ligtas ang Pasko at Bagong Taon.
Ito ang paalala ng Department of Health (DoH) sa paglulunsad kahapon ng Oplan Iwas Paputok, na may temang “Iwas Paputok, Fireworks Display ang Paputok! Makiisa Fireworks Display sa inyong lugar.”
Sa ilalim ng naturang kampanya, hinihikayat ng DoH, katuwang ang Department of the Interior & Local Government (DILG), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Education (DepEd), Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) at EcoWaste Coalition, ang publiko na umiwas sa paggamit ng paputok at sa halip ay gumamit ng mga alternatibong pamamaraan para ipagdiwang ang Pasko at Bagong Taon.
“For this year, instead of firecrackers, the public is encouraged to use safe merry-making instruments and alternative noise-makers such as ‘torotot’, car horns, or by playing loud music. Also, the local government units (LGUs) are urged to foster community firework display,” sabi ni Health Secretary Paulyn Jean Ubial, sa paglulunsad ng kampanya sa Felipe Calderon Integrated School sa Tondo, Manila.

Binalaan ng Kalihim ang publiko na maaari silang maputulan ng bahagi ng katawan, mabulag o ‘di kaya’y mamatay kapag tinamaan ng paputok.
“Serious injuries and amputation caused by firecracker explosions have life-changing consequences. It is an extreme gamble on one’s future. Every time a firecracker is ignited, a person’s life is at risk, hence, let us do all our part,” dagdag ng Kalihim.
Aminado si Ubial na taun-taon ay nanawagan sila at ang iba pang ahensya ng pamahalaan sa pag-iwas sa paputok pero marami pa rin ang nagpapaputok at nasusugatan.
Dahil dito, patuloy ang kanilang pakikipag-ugnayan sa mga local government units (LGU) upang magkaroon ng community fireworks display.
Kaugnay nito, sinabi ng DoH na magkakaroon sila ng shame campaign sa pagtatapos ng holiday season laban sa local government units (LGU) na hindi makikipagtulungan sa anti-firecrackers campaign.
Nagbanta si Ubial na papangalanan ang LGUs, na hindi tutulong sa pag-regulate sa paggamit ng firecrackers sa kanilang mga lugar at magtalaga ng lugar para sa community fireworks display.
“On Jan. 5 (2017) we will come here together and we will show you the statistics of the LGUs which did not help in our campaign. These are usually the LGUs with the most number of injuries,” sabi ni Ubial.
