Kinondena ng Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) trahedyang sinapit ng anak ng isang overseas Filipino workers na binugbog ng pinag-iwanang kamag-anak nito sa Calinan, Davao City kamakailan.

Si John Earl Cagalitan, 2-anyos, anak ng OFW na si Erlinda Cagalitan, ay iniulat na ginulpi ng kanyang pinsan at mister nito makaraang maihian ng paslit ang pantalon ng huli. Isinugod pa sa ospital ang bata ngunit idineklarang dead on arrival noong Nobyembre 13.

Sinabi ni OWWA Administrator Hans Leo Cacdac na makikipagpulong siya sa Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Justice, Philippine Commission on Women, at child rights and women’s rights advocates upang mabigyan ng hustisya ang nangyari.

Ipinadala rin ni Cacdac ang OWWA Team sa pamumuno ni Deputy Administrator Josefino I. Torres upang makiramay at iabot ang P50,000 financial assistance, training at livelihood assistance at psycho-social counselling sa pamilya ni Galitan. (Bella Gamotea)
