Magbubukas ang Metro Schools League Baseball and Softball Tournament sa ika-22 season sa Linggo sa Sto. Nino baseball field sa Marikina City.

Sinabi ni Philippine Tot Baseball president Rodolfo Tingzon Jr. na may kabuuang 80 koponan mula sa 25 eskwelahan ang sasabak sa mga nakatayang division -- Shetland (3-6 years old tee ball), pinto (7-8 years old coached pitched) mustang (9-10 years old), bronco (11-12 years old), pony (13-14 years old), at colt (15-18 years old), gayundin ang Elementary girls softball (9-13 years old) and high school girls softball (14-18 years old).

Kabilang sa mga unibersidad na nakiisa sa torneo ang Ateneo, La Salle, International School of Manila, Paref Southridge School, La Salle College Antipolo, La Salle Lipa, La Salle Canlubang, gayundin ang ilang eskwelahan mula sa Antipolo, Muntinlupa, Tanauan, Marikina, Cainta, Pasig, at Quezon City.

“This is part of the regular season ng baseball and softball here in the country,” sambit ni Tingzon.

“My father started this and we are just continuing this tradition.”

Sinabi ni Tingzon, ang ama na si Rodolfo Sr. ang itinuturing ‘Father of Youth Baseball’ sa bansa, na itinataguyod ang torneo ng HMR Trading Haus at Loro Sports.

Iginiit ni Ada Milby, brand manager ng Overlanders Logistics and Distribution (HMR), na naniniwala ang kumpanya sa isang institution na tulad ng PTB.

“A lot of times, these sporting goods are for sports that are not well-known like baseball. We want to show that HMR supports local sports,” pahayag ni Milby, miyembro ng Philippine Lady Volcanoes.
