LUND, Sweden (Reuters) – Dapat kapwa itama ng mga Lutheran at Katoliko ang mga pagkakamali ng nakaraan at magpatawaran.
Ito ang panawagan ni Pope Francis, ang unang papa na bumisita sa Sweden sa loob ng halos 30 taon, sa makasaysayang joint prayer service sa Lutheran cathedral ng Lund noong Lunes.
“We too must look with love and honesty at our past, recognising error and seeking forgiveness, for God alone is our judge,” sabi ni Francis, sa kanyang talumpati sa cathedral na inagaw mula sa mga Katoliko matapos maging relihiyon ng estado ang Lutheranism noong 16th century.
Kinilala ni Pope Francis ang positibong aspeto ng Reformation na inilunsad ni Martin Luther noong 1517 na bumabatikos sa katiwalian sa Rome.

“With gratitude we acknowledge that the Reformation helped give greater centrality to sacred scripture in the (Catholic) Church’s life,” ani Pope Francis.
