MULING nagbabalik ang British musician na si Phil Collins sa kanyang unang set na live shows pagkaraan ng halos 10 taon, at ipinahayag na nakatulong ang kanyang mga anak para ipagpaliban ang kanyang pagreretiro.
Magtatanghal si Collins, na nagpahayag ng pagreretiro sa music industry noong 2011, ng limang gabi sa Royal Albert Hall sa London sa Hunyo, bago magtungo sa tigdalawa ring pagtatanghal sa Cologne at Paris, bilang bahagi ng kanyang show na Not Dead Yet: Live.
Sumikat si Collins, 65-anyos, bilang drummer at lead vocalist ng rock band na Genesis at nakilala sa mga solo hit single niya tulad na Another Day in Paradise at In the Air Tonight. Huli siyang nag-tour noong 2007.

“They all kind of (said) ‘You should get out there Dad, you should get out there and keep doing it.’ They thought my retirement was a little premature but I also really did want to stop to be with the kids and be a dad. Now I am a dad, I can leave,” saad ni Collins sa Reuters sa isang panayam noong Lunes.
“People were talking to me over the last couple of years and saying ‘We miss you, nobody does really what you do and it would be great if you came back and did some shows.’ These kind of comments started to weigh up with me.”
Kuntento si Collins sa kanyang matagumpay na solo career, na nakapag-uwi ng Grammys, Brits pati na rin ang Oscar.
“It’ll be fun... I’ve been away long enough for a greatest hits tour not to bore people,” ani Collins.
“I think, fans...(will) be happy listening to the stuff they’re familiar with and obviously there’ll be some things in there that will be surprises.”
Nagtanghal si Collins noong nakaraang taon sa isang event para sa kanyang Little Dreams Foundation at kumanta rin sa U.S. Opens noong Agosto.
Sa mga naunang news conference, ibinahagi niya na maglalabas siya ng kanyang talambuhay na Not Dead Yet: The Authobiography, na nagkaroon siya ng back surgery at sumasailalim sa theraphy dahil sa mga natamong injury sa ilang taong pagtugtog ng drums. Ibinahagi rin niya ang kanyang pakikipaglaban sa adiksyon sa alak.
“I just felt I should write about this because this is the Phil Collins that people think is kind of invincible and squeaky clean. I just felt better for writing about it and also it may help someone..., maybe give people courage to talk about it.” (Reuters)
