LAS VEGAS -- Niluluto na ang comeback fight ni Mexican boxing icon Juan Manuel Marquez kontra Miguel Cotto.

Ayon sa ulat ng philboxing.com, patuloy ang negosasyon ng magkabilang panig at nakasentro ang usapin sa weight division na paglalabanan ng dalawang fighter na naging pamoso nang makalaban si Pinoy eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao.

Nais umano ng kampo ni Cotto na makaharap si Marquez sa catchweight na 150 lbs., ngunit gusto ni Marquez ang laban sa 147 lbs. na welterweight limit.

"There would have to be an agreement on the weight. He and his team wanted to fight at 150 or 151, which I believe is particularly a lot of weight,” pahayag ni Marquez.

"Maybe there could be a maximum weight of 148, because we are already giving away an advantage the following day. How much weight will he put on?

"Freddie Roach had mentioned that [Cotto] was able to make the 147 limit - now why can't he give me [a limit of] 147 if he wants to fight with me?"

Hindi na muling lumaban si Cotto sa welterweight mula nang madomina ni Pacquiao noong 2009. Sa edad na 35, malaki ang posibilidad na mapababa niya ang timbang para sa 147 lbs na duwelo.

Sasabak naman si Marquez, 43, sa kauna-unahang pagkakataon sa mas mataas na weight kung sakali.
