Pormal nang inimbitahan ng pamahalaan ang United Nations (UN) na mag-iimbestiga sa drug-related killings sa bansa, kasabay ng hiling na siyasatin din ang pagpaslang sa mga pulis.
Ang imbitasyon ng Palasyo ay iginawad ni Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea kay UN special rapporteur on summary executions Agnes Callamard.
“In its invitation, the Palace also urged, and I think this is notable, the UN rapporteur to include in her investigation the killings of law enforcers by drug suspects so that she could obtain an accurate perspective of the drug problem in the country,” ayon kay Presidential Spokesman Ernesto Abella.
Magugunita na sinabi ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte kamakailan na iimbitahin nito si UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon at ang European Union officials na imbestigahan ang summary killings ng drug suspects sa bansa.
