MASAYA ang open forum sa launching ng 1st ToFarm Songwriting Competition na ginanap sa Shangri-La Edsa Hotel last Saturday. 

Ang nasa likod ng pinakabagong songwritng competition ay si Dr. Milagros How, executive vice president ng Universal Harvester Inc. Siya rin ang force behind ToFarm Film Festival.

May temang “Planting The Seeds of Change” ang first year ng magiging yearly songwriting competition at makakatulong ni Dr. How ang project director na si Rommel Cunanan, music director ng Philippine Philarmonic Orchestra na si Olivier Ochanine, resident music director ng Ballet Philippines na si Jed Balsamo at Luchie Roque na trustee at former program director ng NAMCYA.

Ang songwriting competition ay open sa lahat ng Filipino amateur and professional songwriters at welcome ang lahat ng song genres. Maaari nang ipasa ang entry simula September 10 hanggang November 18 at kailangang may kasamang application form, valid ID with specimen signature ng applicants at lyric sheet -- sa ToFarm Secretariat 10th floor, Harvester Corporate Center 158 P. Tuazon Blvd., corner 7th Avenue, Cubao, Quezon City.

Nine finalists ang pipiliin at magkakaroon ng grand finals night sa February 6, 2017. Ang grand prize winner ay mag-uuwi ng P300,000, trophy at plaque. Ang first runner-up ay mananalo ng P200,000, trophy at plaque at ang second runner-up ay tatanggap ng P100,000, trophy and plaque. 

Ang People’s Choice Award ay mag-uuwi naman ng P75,000 at plaque.

Bawat finalist ay tatanggap ng P40,000 at plaque.

Dahil maganda ang resulta ng ToFarm Film Festival na nagdi-discover at sumusuporta ng new talents sa filmmaking, inilunsad din 1st ToFarm Songwriting Competition to discover talents in songwriting and singing.

Famous sa kanyang mga one-liner na sagot si Dr. How, at kuwela na naman ang kanyang sagot na, “Hindi ko sila kilala” nang tanungin tungkol sa ibang personalities na nasa likod ng ibang songwriting contest. (Nitz Miralles)
