Isinusulong ngayon ni Taguig Rep. Pia Cayetano ang pagkakaroon ng P3,000 pensiyon at libreng medical insurance para sa Filipino comfort women.
“The so-called Filipino Comfort Women suffered tremendously during their ordeal in the hands of the Japanese Imperial Army. They suffered more when they courageously came out in the open to tell the whole world about the dastardly acts committed against them,” ani Cayetano.
Sa kabila nito, mas pinili umano ng gobyerno na manahimik na lang at hinintay na lang na mapansin ang comfort women.
Sa ilalim ng kanyang House Bill 1182 o Comfort Women Compensation and Benefit Act, hinihiling ni Cayetano sa Philhealth at Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO) na mabigyan ng libreng ‘full medical insurance’ at buwanang pensiyon ang comfort women. - Charissa M. Luci
