Ngayong naluklok na sa puwesto si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte, malaki ang pag-asa ng isang mambabatas mula sa Bayan Muna Party-list na mapagtitibay na ang P2,000 dagdag sa Social Security System (SSS) pension sa susunod na anim na buwan.
Muling inihain ang kontrobersiyal na panukala nitong Huwebes, napag-alaman ni Bayan Muna Rep. Carlos Zarate na marami sa mga kapwa niyang kongresista ang nagsipaghain din ng kaparehong panukala para sa pagbubukas ng 17th Congress sa Hulyo 25.
Matatandaang ibinasura ni dating Pangulong Aquino ang nasabing panukala matapos itong ipasa ng Kongreso.
“When the 16th Congress closed, more than 130 congressmen supported the resolution to override the unjust and callous veto of former Pres. Aquino. Now, we are truly glad and thankful that several other members of the House are filing the same measure that Bayan Muna filed since 2011,” ani Zarate.

“Our optimism is also buoyed by the fact that President Digong Duterte also supported the pension increase; hopefully it will generate the necessary push so that the P2,000 SSS pension hike will finally be enacted into law before the year ends,” dagdag pa niya.
