Upang maihanda ang mga estudyante sa lindol, makikiisa ang mga eskuwelahan sa simultaneous earthquake drill bukas, ayon sa Department of Education (DepEd).
Ayon kay Education Secretary Armin A. Luistro, layunin din ng drill na alamin ang kapasidad ng mga opisyal ng paaralan at mga community leader sa pagtugon sa emergency kapag may sakuna o kalamidad.
“An integral part of this exercise is to discuss with the teachers and the students safety precautions and other must-know measures about earthquakes,” ani Luistro. “It is important that everyone is aware and knowledgeable on what to do and what not to do during a disaster [earthquake] like this.” (Mac Cabreros)
