Tiniyak ni Chief Justice Maria Lourdes P.A. Sereno na magpapatuloy ang reporma sa hudikatura laban sa mga tiwaling huwes, empleyado at abogado.
Ito ay bilang reaksiyon sa pahayag ni incoming President Rodrigo Duterte na talamak ang kurapsiyon sa hudikatura, partikular ang pagbebenta ng mga TRO (temporary restraining order) ng mga tiwaling huwes.
Sinabi ni Sereno na hindi nagpapabaya ang hudikatura sa paglilinis sa hanay nito at magpapatuloy ang ganitong adhikain sa susunod na administrasyon ni Duterte.
“Whether there is a TRO or not, corruption is a problem in government…. I can assure the public that we will not stop cleansing our ranks,” iginiit ni Sereno sa panayam kasabay ng selebrasyon ng ika-115 anibersaryo ng Korte Suprema, kamakalawa.

Aniya, mabilis na ngayon ang paglilitis sa kasong administratibo na kinahaharap ng mga tiwaling huwes, kawani at abogado sa hudikatura.
“We’ve been faithful to our mission in that sense, so we welcome that he (Duterte) highlights corruption. But I can also assure the public that even if our President is quiet about corruption, the judiciary will still do its best to rid its ranks of corruption,” aniya.
Binigyang-diin din ng Punong Mahistrado na bukas siya sa posibilidad na makapulong si Duterte upang ilatag ang programang reporma na kanilang ikinasa para sa kanilang hanay.
“We are ready to give an introduction or briefing of what we are doing. In fact my office is always open for any of his trusted people to raise concerns with us and we will already tell them what we are doing in the front of corruption and what we are doing with respect to some concerns of judicial processes,” ayon kay Sereno.
Samantala, umapela rin si Sereno sa publiko na huwag mag-aatubiling magharap ng ebidensiya laban sa mga tiwaling kawani ng mga korte sa bansa. (Rey G. Panaligan)
