INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Hindi na lumayo ang Indiana Pacers sa paghahanap ng bagong coach.

Ipinahayag nitong Lunes (Martes sa Manila) ni team president Larry Bird na iniluklok nila bilang head coach ng Pacers si assistant coach Nate McMillan.

Pinalitan ng 51-anyos na si McMillan ang sinibak na si Frank Vogel.

"We will respect the game," pahayag ni McMillan sa isinagawang news conference.

Olympian boxer Eumir Marcial, di nagpatalo kay Carlos Yulo, nag-crop top na rin!

"What I mean by respect the game is that you mentally and physically have to prepare yourself to go out and play hard every single night."

Ayon kay Bird, kabisado na ni McMillan ang character at istilo ng bawat player kung kaya’t hindi na ito mahihirapan sa pangangasiwa.

"I like what he did in Portland, I like the fact that he's old-school, I like structure," sambit ni Bird.

"I'm not saying Frank didn't have those things, but I've always admired Nate from afar and that's why it didn't take me long to decide to bring him in here."

Naglaro si McMillan ng 12 season sa Seattle bago nagsilbing head coach ng Sonics at Portland Trail Blazers. Tangan niya ang career record na 478-452 sa regular season at 14-20 sa playoff.
