Nanawagan si Liberal Party (LP) senatorial bet Leila de Lima na dapat tigilan na ang kontraktuwalisasyon sa hanay ng mga manggagawa, dahil malinaw naman na paglabag ito sa umiiral na labor law.

Aniya, kailangan ding marebisa ang labor law sa bansa upang magkaroon ng mas maayos na kalakaran sa pag-eempleyo.

“The United Nations states that everyone is entitled to employment and protection from unemployment. I believe that legislation must be passed to punish contractual labor as a criminal offense. It deprives the people of the right to live decently,” ani De Lima.

Aniya, isa ito sa mga nais niyang gawing batas sakaling maluklok siya bilang senador ngayong halalan.

“The Labor Code must be revisited so that amendments can be introduced to make it more responsive to the times. We have to take note of how other institutions do business: there are still drivers who work on commission basis, there are people exposed to more than 12 hours of work, due to field work. Even white collar employment, such as jobs in the BPO sector, have health risks. This has to be fixed,” dagdag pa ni De Lima.

Sinabi pa ng dating kalihim ng Department of Justice (DoJ) na para magkaroon ng maayos na hustisya, dapat itaguyod ang seguridad sa trabaho at pagtaas ng antas ng kabuhayan ng milyun-milyong empleyado sa bansa. - Leonel Abasola
